Having been raised in the rural Amery area, I have a deep appreciation for local food ecology. As a family, we grew and preserved many of our own vegetables. We raised meat chickens and enjoyed farm fresh eggs. For a number of years, we also raised pigs and even had a couple of goats. I fondly remember my mother milking them and making cheese with home-grown herbs. Fishing and hunting wild game rounded out our local foods.

I feel that Farm Table Foundation is making a tremendous effort to preserve these sustainable practices and ways of living through educational programs and engaging hands-on learning. They focus on teaching methods of farming and harvesting that honor the Earth which, when properly cared for, provides for us all that we need to live healthy and fulfilling lives.
